This review serves as an initial look at the newest venue in Club 123 that actually hosted fans. With only 11,500 of the 40,300 (28.5%) seats being offered, it was expected that tickets would be in high demand, but it turned out that a neutral site game in a COVID hotspot was not as big an attraction as thought and Stadium Journey was able to acquire a pod of 4 for two of the games. However, in September, MLB announced that a limited number of fans would be allowed to attend the NLCS and World Series at Globe Life Field. The new ballpark was ready for the 2020 season, but obviously, the COVID pandemic kept it closed to fans for the entire summer. Globe Life retained naming rights (if you get confused, remember Park is Past and Field is Future) even though the old stadium was not demolished, instead of becoming a multi-purpose venue that now hosts football games among other events. There was some question as to whether such a relatively new venue needed to be replaced, but the hot weather was keeping fans away and so a stadium with a retractable roof was considered essential to the team’s continued success.
